In 2012, the UK parliament approved the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme. In its current form, the ECO3 scheme has £640 million per annum of funding allocated to the Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHCRO) from which we claim the solar grants.
ECO3 funding is something that offers solar panel grants to help homeowners and tenants (with landlord permission) in England, Scotland and Wales to reduce their carbon emissions and energy bills. Providing grants to vulnerable people, the scheme helps ensure your home is more energy-efficient. If you meet the eligibility criteria, we make it easy for you to secure a solar panel grant and installation.
ECO3 is backed by British Gas, EDF Energy, E.ON, Npower, Scottish Power and SSE. This web site supports all of the ECO3 scheme criteria effective from October 2019 and revised 1st January 2022.

Affordable Warmth Obligation (HHCRO) funding
In order to qualify for a solar panel grant, you will need to be on eligible HHCRO benefits and be a homeowner or a tenant with landlord permission.
At present, solar panel grants are only available to homes that are heated by electricity, such as electric storage heaters, portal electric heaters and electric boilers.

Good News!
The Good News is that since the launch of ECO3 in October 2018, the funding caps on household income have been removed. This has made it much easier to secure a solar panel grant and installation in 2022.
The type and size of your property will determine the solar panel grant available to you. Of particular importance is the size and direction of your roof, and whether there is any shading from trees in the immediate area.

How much can I save with solar?
A standard Solar PV system and battery from new can cost in the region of £4,000 GBP. However, with ECO3, you can have them installed for free or at a significantly discounted rate.
